What you’ll build
A long run of about 82″ and a shorter return meet at a shared 4x4 corner post. 2x4 rails frame both seats, with cross rails under the 1x4 seat slats. Three 1x4 backrest slats run along each side, and 2x4 armrests cap both ends.

Step-by-step instructions
Assemble Left End Frame
Lay the 34-inch left rear post and 24-inch front post flat on your work surface. Position the 12 1/2-inch transverse seat rail between them at seat height, keeping the outside faces flush. Clamp the parts firmly and check for square before proceeding.

Add Long Seat Rails and Corner Posts
Stand the 34-inch corner post and 16-inch inner corner leg upright with assistance. Fit the 75 5/8-inch long rear rail between the back posts and the 59 5/8-inch front rail between the front posts, aligning top edges flush with the left end rail.

For outdoor use, choose a rot-resistant or pressure-treated lumber (rated for ground contact where wood touches soil) and exterior-rated screws. Seal the end grain, build on level ground, and check the joints each season.
Change the size or design
This plan is one of the projects in the TimberLab app’s catalog. In the app you can turn the model in 3D, follow the assembly steps one part at a time, and ask for changes in plain words, such as “make it 6 inches shorter” or “add a shelf”. The cut list and shopping list update to match the new design.
